Riverwalk Cabins: Area Attractions; Dahlonega Has it All! The Perfect spot for rest, relaxation, fishing, tubing, rafting, canoeing, water skiing, gold panning, hiking, mountain biking, golf and much, much more!

Dahlonega's history is chocked full of events dating back to before Colonization and the Cherokee Land Cessions. In 1828 Benjamin Parks discovered gold in the area and started the first gold rush in the history of the United States. We know where he is buried. Can you find out?   Visit Auraria, site of the Old Gold Town. Search the areas surrounding Dahlonega for Native American Folklore, and Appalachia.

Travel the roadside flea markets, experience the majesty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, cross the Tennessee Valley Divide, venture through old growth forests, hike the Appalachian Trail. And for a break, take in a round or two of golf at one of several local world class golf courses.

Ask about the Indian Princess burial mound on Highway 60. If history and Native American Folklore are your cup of tea, be sure to read about "The Trail of Tears" before you come. While here, visit area burial mounds and the Dahlonega Museum.

Dockery Lake If you haven't experienced the Fall Leaf Season in North Georgia you are missing one of Nature's most beautiful events. In the Fall, when conditions are right, the many varied broad leaf and evergeen tree forests put on one of the most spectacular and inspiring color shows in all of Creation. It certainly rates as a "Must See" and Riverwalk is the place to see it.

Dahlonega is home to North Georgia College and State University. Military parades on their grounds are a fairly common sight and the campus is home to Dahlonega's famous Gold Domed building.

The Square in Dahlonega's downtown area offers gift shops, eateries and a myriad of opportunities for walking tours.

Music is becoming increasingly important to Dahlonega's Community and you should be able to find great spots to spend some time listening to home grown jammin', while enjoying a snack and a friendly libation.

Alpine Helen is a short half hour's drive and one of the most unique villages in the South. Hiawassee's Georgia Mountain Fair offers year round activities and is only 45 miles north of Riverwalk.

Great Fishing! If Fishing is your bag, are you in luck! Riverwalk Cabins are alongside the Chestatee River. North Georgia is also home to more than 1,000 miles of Trout Streams ranging from put and take stocked streams to the famous Dicks and Waters Creek trophy stream. Walk right out your front door and hook 'em up! The Chestatee River is one of two main tributaries to Lake Sidney Lanier, one of the nation's most visited Corp of Engineers Impoundments. Lake Lanier offers a myriad of recreation, sailing,  power boating, jet skis, golf and the list goes on.

For those of you of the athletic persuasion, we have more miles of hiking trails than we can begin to describe. Two of the most prominent hiking opportunities would be the World Famous Appalachian Trail, which begins on Dahlonega's Springer Mountain and any of the numerous trails that cross the Tennessee Valley Divide. Mountain Biking is a favorite local pastime and we have horseback riding operations in the vicinity.

And yes, we do have Golf. North Georgia is home to a "fair" number of Championship Courses. Several of these are just a short drive from Riverwalk.

There are also an abundance of State Parks within easy driving distance. Just a few of these are: Amicalola Falls State Park, Anna Ruby Falls, Unicoi State Park, Brasstown Bald (the highest point in Georgia, Lake Lanier Islands and Moccasin Creek State Park.
